Let’s face it, shipping charges can add significantly to the cost of an on-line purchase. We have a pretty simple shipping charge philosophy: We do our best to minimize the cost to ship your order and then we charge you the carrier’s published rates with no mark-up. We do add $1.50 to each order to cover the miscellaneous carrier charges that are impossible to foresee at the time of shipment. These charges include fees for things like ‘commercial’ shipments that actually had ‘residential’ addresses, zip code corrections and additional handling charges carriers sometimes add to items not fully enclosed in a shipping carton. Estimated Shipping Charges Our web ordering system estimates shipping charges and shows you the total as you checkout. While this process is generally accurate, there are limitations because we do not know the total number of packages, and weight of each package, until we pick and pack your order. If the actual charges are going to be materially different than the estimate you saw on our site, we contact you for approval prior to shipment. Truck Items Because we sell to large industrial packing supply users, as well as smaller shippers, we have a number of ‘jumbo-sized’ items that must ship via truck. In every case, however, these items are also offered in smaller units that can ship via UPS. When purchasing bubble wrap, packing peanuts and foam rolls, watch for items marked ‘Motor Freight’ and switch to a smaller UPSable size if you don’t want to pay ‘Truck’ shipping rates (a minimum of $75.00). Carriers Standard Service - We ship small packages via FedEx Ground (formerly known as RPS) and UPS Ground. Fedex Ground serves all commercial and most residential addresses and we primarily ship Fedex. We use UPS only in areas that are not covered by Fedex and when specifically requested by the customer.. Express Service – We ship express orders via FedEx Air. We usually pre-pay the charges and add them to your bill but we’re happy to have FedEx bill your account number directly if you prefer. Freight Shipments – American Freightways is our primary carrier. They provide excellent service and offer us a significant discount – which we pass along to you! Please contact us if you have an alternative freight carrier you’d like us to use for your shipments. |
